The banned Mohammed cartoon

Just over 2 years ago in Denmark some cartoonists and journalists published 12 cartoons and an explanatory article reflecting their feelings that some were hijacking the Muslim religion in the name of terror. One particular cartoon summed up this line of thought, the one with a bomb in Mohammed’s turban.

Riots followed in cities around the world, Danish embassies had to close, staff had to be evacuated, many were killed during the rioting in far flung places. The cartoonists had to go into hiding.

Two years later, after arrests for a murder plot on the cartoonist who drew that cartoon Danish journalists have come out strongly in support of their colleague and a free press by publishing the original article and cartoons but more widely than originally.

This is the offending cartoon. You can read more about it here. What’s your opinion on the matter?

Ridiculous is the only word that springs to mind.
Also why has it taken this long for the free press to ‘come out in support’ of the Danish journalists?

Sheepworrier, indeed. I think it was the realisation of the murder plot on one of the cartoonists. I bet it put the fear up the rest of them and journos in general.

It’s pretty sad that people get so caught up in superstitious BS that they are more than willing to riot and kill over a cartoon of some stupid guy who lived and died over 1,000 years ago. I’m sick to death of hearing about “people of religion” (whether Muslim, Sikh, or Christian) trying to control what the rest of us read, write, draw, think, see, do or say, and I’m especially sick of them demanding special dispensation for their superstitious idiocy. These people must be stopped in their tracks with a good firm slap on the muzzle, and not acquiesed to or given exemptions to laws and rules.
