….or to be precise, in the newest version of Mint 5 (main edition) using Wine. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy.
I’ll explain. Mint is an Open Source Linux operating system. That means it’s developed by a community and constantly updated. it’s also free unlike any version of windows or Mac. (Mac is based on Unix as is Linux). It normally works faster and uses less CPU and memory resources than Windows making it more responsive. I find web browsing faster under Mint than Windows (installed Mint not Live Session).
Linux is more secure than Windows, it’s very hard for a malicious program to install itself in a Linux based system.
Mint comes with a multitude of software, web browsers, office suites, IM client, etc, etc and you can download a lot more to do practically anything you’d want, all free. You can also even make some Windows software work in Linux by installing a program called Wine on it. As Photoshop is such a popular Photo editing package a great deal of work has been put into making the Windows version of Photoshop work in Linux. So with Wine already installed you just need to put the Photoshop CD in the drive and install as normal.
You can install Mint alongside your version of Windows and choose which one to boot into when you boot your PC. Best of both worlds. You can also give it a try by installing a live session with Mint temporarily installed on your PC then make the install permanent with a few clicks. It normally takes just a few minutes on most PCs. Try it. If you need help leave a comment here and I’ll try to answer.

The name and color make me want to floss my teeth. I should have a computer with Mint set up in my bathroom.
Indeed you should Sarah.
p.s. I’ll be in London the weekend after next. Can you make it? (Bring Lauren).
I have toothache…….what ya gonna do?
manuel, cloves. With or without hot whiskey.
I will be drunk fireworks watching with my gimp, but I will be sure to pass the invite on to Lauren. Don’t be surprised if she shows up. Any excuse to use her passport….
